Police release e-fit of man wanted in connection with handbag theft in Wallasey
POLICE have released an e-fit image of a man wanted in connection with the theft of a woman's handbag.
The bag was stolen from a woman as she walked from Liscard Road through an alleyway between Monk Road and Wilton Street in Wallasey at around 2.40am on Sunday.
The 36-year-old victim was uninjured in the incident but was left shaken.
The offender ran off in the direction of Monk Road. Prior to the theft he was seen walking along Liscard Road.
The man wanted by police is white, aged between 17 and 19, slim and approximately 5ft 10in tall with short, spiky hair.
He was wearing a zip-up top with light and dark patches.
DC Neil Ogden, of Birkenhead CID, said: "This was a very upsetting incident for the victim. We treat crimes of this nature very seriously and while they are rare they are totally unacceptable.
"We appeal to anyone who recognises this man, or who may have any information about this incident, to contact us so we can bring the offender to justice."
Anyone with any information can call DC Ogden of Wirral CID on 0151 777 2264, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

"We appeal to anyone who recognises this man..." "Man" = handbag thief????? Seems to be a bit of a contradiction in terms to me...
