Funding available for groups helping disabled Wirral children
NEW funding is available for private organisations, charities and community groups that want to improve the access of their services for children with disabilities.The cash is being offered via a new national initiative, ‘Aiming High for Disabled Children,’ which is being delivered locallyl by Wirral Council in partnership with Wirral Primary Care Trust.
The initiative aims to help disabled children and their families get the support and chances they need to live ordinary lives by enabling more children with disabilities access more short breaks.
These short breaks can include day, evening, overnight or weekend activities, in child’s own home, the home of an approved carer, a residential or community setting – with or without their primary carer.
Each local authority is designing their own delivery plan to develop services taking into account consultation with families and young people.
Wirral is looking for innovative programmes and schemes to enable the amount, range, choice and quality of activities available to young people with disabilities to be increased.
To support these developments a capital working group has been established and organisations are able to apply for £2,500-£25,000 to support appropriate developments that will impact on the aims of Aiming High project.
