Was flashed 3:49am early Sat Morning A5 Shottaton between Oswestry and Shrewsbury and sure enough letter came today.

No excuses didn't even see the 40mph sign. Lot of dual carriageway and national speed limits along that section of A5 so was probably within the limits at 60mph and naturally slowed for a narrower bit of road but not enough.
I didn't miss another speed camera! Thankfully haven't got as many points as Tranmere have .

Think may take the Speed Awareness course if offered as not been on one yet.
Had about 35 years of unblemished licence just the last 10 years had 3 fines. Sometimes think it makes you a more unsafe driver as your preoccupied about your speed rather than the traffic.

Check the distance between the street lamps and you could get away with it due to a loophole.

Speed awareness courses fish are quite the thing...for me anyway.

Been on 3. My first one was for roadworks speeding. Then my next one was still in the 2 years so I thought I would have to take the points. But I had been divorced and my surname change allowing me to slip under the radar as such and get on another course. I was just unlucky speeding into a village at 48 instead of 40 the last time.

It wasn't till my last course that I think I finally took note of the things they were saying, I do try very much now to put into practice what I have been taught. Besides, I've already 5 points I can't afford to add to it.

But iam a good driver....lol

Oh well some good things come from a divorce. 2 of my previous were 36mph in a 30 . when i thought about it both were whilst accelerating away from a traffic light and a round about. Its the way i drive accelerate and then check speed not constantly watching speedo.am more concerned whats on the road in front of me.

Do you get tea and biscuits on the course.

If someone else is driving your car and they are the guilty speeding motorist, what happens then ? Do you get the notification or do they and does the case have to be pleaded ? Just wondering .

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.

The registered owner of the vehicle gets the letter and the forms I got give option of taking the fine £100 and points, OR agree to go on a speed awareness course (costs around the same as the fine but No points. Form also to say you contest it and will go to court and another form to say who the driver was (which you as registered keeper must tell or get bigger fine) . Its all spelt out on the rather complicated letters you receive from the particular police division. Easy money for them--monies raised help to make roads safer by paying for more speed cameras etc etc

I was stopped on edge lane Liverpool doing 45mph and he explained this about speed limit signs every 400 metres or so on lampposts, if you don't see a speed limit sign assume it is 30mph, he let me off with a warning, phew
I did end up getting banned in 97' for having a heavy foot. I have had a clean license since which is down to pure luck because it is natural to maybe go 35mph now and again
I am driving to London on Sunday, wish me luck

The car doesn't have to be registered in your name, if the car is insured in your name and registered to somebody else you can also receive a ticket.

Pleasant surprise. Tea coffee and water provided. No test....just 4 hours of facts and stats from a couple of guys who tried to make it not too serious.
What i noticed was the different attitudes of the drivers ..bolshy and arrogant to meek and accepting.
One young biker got done twice in same place in the same week and was only on their provisional.
Scary statistic was motorbikes and cyclist make up 1% of traffic but account for 21% of fatalities..hence the think bike campaign.
