I have been talking to a few people about the unique sound of scoobys'. What d oyou think gives it the unique sound? If it has an equal length manifold would it sounds like a normal car? The impreza also gets its unique noise from the flat four boxer engine... What it is? Tom

its the combination of both things u said.Boxer engines do sound different for straight 4 pots, but mainly its the unequal manifold, gives it a 2 step burble, which i facking lurve#
Fit an equalk length manifold ant it will sound........not like a scooby, but not like a straight 4.Itll be a new noise alltogether, ask johnWRX,who has just got a new manifold for his scoob

Yep, as scoop says its due to the unequal length manifold know as the headers and up pipe.
If you were to put equal lenght headers in you would lose the unique scooby burble sound but gain a little on performance. I have put new stainless increased diameter headers on mine but have kept them unequal length so as to keep the lovely tune.
