click Police to stage lost and stolen property roadshow in Wirral
A LOST and stolen property roadshow is set to take place next weekend.
Officers from Laird Street neighbourhood policing team are holding the special event at the
Williamson Art Gallery on Slatey Road, Oxton on Saturday, May 26 between 11am and 2pm.
Those attending the event will also be offered crime prevention advice to improve personal
and home security will be available.
They will also be given personal attack alarms, alarms for sheds, doors and windows,
handbag bells, UV pens and ‘smartwater’ kits for free.
Bikes will be marked and registered with the police and mobile phones will be entered on
the National Mobile Property Register, an online property search used by police to search
for any identifiable item of property.
Once a phone or other valuable electrical item is registered, officers are able to look up
its unique registration or IMEI number, view its registered owners details and find out if
it has been reported lost or stolen by the police anywhere in the UK. Acting Sergeant
Geraint Price said: "We have a number of items in our property store including bikes,
televisions and fishing equipment that is currently unaccounted for.
"This event is open to all who live and work in Wirral and in particular for anyone who has
lost items or been a victim of crime and had items stolen that have not been returned to
you.
"It is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of crime prevention advice and devices as
well as registering your bikes and mobile phones.
"Ultimately it will mean that you improve your chances of getting your phone or bike back
if they are lost or stolen." To be able to claim the items you will need to bring proof of
purchase or any reference numbers provided to you by the police.
Officers from each neighbourhood team in Wirral will be at the event and will be providing
updates on local policing issues.
Acting Sgt Price added: "This is also a great opportunity to come and meet your local
officers to discuss any issues that are affecting you or your neighbourhood
