right here goes......
bought this mini off ebay back in september, and for the past several weekends i have been slowly restoring it. it had quite abit of rust on it including round the sills, and front. all thats gone now, most of the welding has been done. was only supposed to be a small restoration then saw several flip front mini's on the web and thought i'd have a go. one word of warning to anyone wanting to do a flip front mini, its alot of work! mine wasn't the best of fits and before you ask no it wasn't a cheaper version. its made by curley specilised mouldings. its top quality sh*t but its sort of like universal fit.

heres some pics

[Linked Image]

the many different locating holes i had to drill to line up the hinges

[Linked Image]

i also have a smoothed boot but its not what you think........

[Linked Image]

its a fibreglass skin which i mated to the skeleton of the old steel one

[Linked Image]

i also thought i'd update the suspension of this old relic so i opted for a power coated beam and some rear coilovers

of course coilover being slighty wider that the original shocks meant i had to use abit of positive camber! as can be seen below

near future i plan to re-bumper the rear to blend in with my sportspack arches. and obviously continue to fine tune the fitment of the flip front. which brings me to my future mods. alloy minifins with built in 1" spacer, front coilovers, bucket seats, 6 point rollcage, 7x13 deepdish ultralite alloys..................this list is pretty much endless! learn and this dam cold weather!! snowman )

all comments/critisims welcome,I’ll keep ya posted

[Linked Image]

flip front is now 80% complete so i started to fit the front arches. need to do alot more development on the arches though.

got the bonnet pins on, gonna have one in each corner. i've made it so the bonnet come up with the flip front so you dan't have to take it of everytime you want to flip the front. tease

and finally the fastners i am using to hold it all in place. they are dzus counter sunk type, pretty hard to get hold of! thats it for now!

this week i rebumpered the rear. i chose to install a new rear valance as the old one had more filer than metal on it! i chopped it off with a grinder cleaned around the area i intended to weld, preped the surfaces and treated the surrounding area. once the new panel was tacked in the right place i welded it on. i chose to seam weld it rather than spot weld (having a mig welder and all). the only problem i have is it sits a little too high so i'll have to shave the bootom of my hinges but isn't a fuss. finished of with abit of filler which i will smooth in so you won't even know! i know my welds may look like pigeon sh*t but they used to be worse! just try welding thin body pannels with a clarke 205te welder! heres some pics
