From May, laws will be standardised across the EU restricting how large their liquid containers can be and how much nicotine they can contain.
Restrictions on advertising will also come in.
Politicians have been grappling for ages about how to deal with e-cigarettes, and whether they could serve as a ‘gateway’ to smoking actual cigarettes.
Opponents say they are a helpful tool for people quitting smoking and should be promoted.

In the UK, the new laws mean there will be tighter rules on what products you can buy but in other countries the laws will actually be loosened.
For example, they are currently banned in Belgium but from May will be permitted again.
Refill containers will have to be no larger than 10ml while cartridges will have a maximum size of 2ml.
The strongest permissible nicotine strength will be set at 20mg (similar to a strong cigarette).
If three or more EU countries decide e-cigarettes are harmful, they could potentially be banned outright.
Some new laws have already been passed in the UK, such as a ban on selling e-cigarettes or e-liquids to anyone under the age of 18 which came into force in October last year.

10ml refill containers is just ridiculous. This is based on two mistakes made years ago when calculating the toxicity.

20mg of nicotine per litre would mean there is 0.2mg per 10ml container, so a child would have to swallow at least 30 of these containers to be at any risk at all even using the most conservative toxicity (which is known to be wrong).

Nicotine liquid is pretty bitter and harsh, I doubt if I could down more than two 10ml containers, its bad enough when you just get one drip in your mouth.

Whatever, more money will go from Britain to China from this decision.

Does it matter if they are hooked? Loads of people are hooked on sugar or caffeine which are more harmful than vaping.

Nicotine addiction is easy to kick, it's the physical habit that is difficult.

Vaping is a lot cheaper and a lot safer than tobacco smoking. It costs me less than £3 a week.

I can't think of one reason for me to return to tobacco from vaping. If vaping had been around I would never have smoked tobacco.

I can't think of any reason to give up vaping or weaning myself off.

I have reduced my sugar and salt intakes considerably and have never been one for caffeine.

No, I'm not happy with the research so far - the lack of proper research being reported tells a tale.

Most analysis that have done have been reported on totally out of context only mentioning the existence of toxins not the quantities - many of these toxins are produced when you cook things.

The main thing to reduce toxins is to make sure the temperature doesn't go above 130C, this is naturally obtained because the water content limits the temperature to about 100C BUT if you use high current coils and mega-vape clouds the risk of toxins is greatly increased.

At the end of the day, you can't globally state that vaping is safe or unsafe, it depends on the chemicals are used and the method of vaporising it. Just like drinking fluids, you can't say drinking is safe, it depends what you are drinking.

It needs regulating where safety tests are done on the equipment and the chemicals. I use one of the biggest world brands but who is to say that some back-street place isn't cloning them, there is a lot of fraud around, its probably gone through at least four middlemen before it arrives at me, any of then could have bought a duff batch. I stick to one flavour hoping that I would notice any change.

I just wish they were treated the same as cigs eg can't use them in cars with kids, can't use them in the work place and in shops or shopping centers.

all I can think about when I see people with them is jabba the hut raftl
