One question lawyers ask themselves is Qui Bono. "Who benefits"

If indeed it was a bomb on board or missile shoot down why would IS want to further incur the might of the Russian bear. I did read a while back that one of IS aims was to try and bring about the Armageddon type prophecy of a huge battle in middle east of world power---although biblically the battle is centred much around and about and concerning Israel rather than Islam.

Like 9/11 was "good for Israel" according to Netanhayu so would a full on assault against Islamic/Muslim fundamentalists.

Could be a tit for tat response to the downing of MH17 in Ukraine.

Just seems too coincidental given Russias recent introduction in Syria and the various talks going on.

Netanhayu makes me sick! They are still killing Palestinians by the dozen, and we don't hear about it. Palestinians are captive, and those who leave aren't allowed home again either.
One comment from a Jewish military the other day toward a Palestinian " we will gas you all"!!

The Jews are moving out of Israel again due to the mounting unrest, and so far as biblical prophesies are concerned, Damascus will be obliterated and there will be a conflict between Jerusalem and Damascus.

Maybe it is being manipulated, but the Quran was written much later and why would the Muslims wish to try to fulfil an Old Testament prophesy ? Therefore lets take a longer look at Israel and find out what they are up too. It would appear to be all quiet there at the moment, but it's not. Russia's presence in the area will cause Netanhayu a few worries to say the least, and why have we just opened a new Naval Base in Bahrain ?

Netanhayu wants his people back home as that would fulfil prophesies too. I can't help thinking he is the dark force who is being protected in many ways by the West and America due to the fact that many in privileged and dominant positions are in fact, held by the Jewish. Many Jewish are now hiding their identities too. Why ?

Russia also has close to 20 million Muslims. Maybe it is saving face on their behalf ?

Russia is struggling to justify the financial cost of Syria with its citizen's already - this could have been a "bring-it-on-or-get-lost" message knowing full well that Russia hasn't got the resources to escalate their involvement on much larger a scale.

It could also have been a message to China, discouraging China from siding with Russia which is something in progress.

How does the Qui Bono work with the destruction of the historical artefacts - we are talking about a different culture, they don't think the same as the west all the time.

With the number of countries already fighting ISIS I don't think they are particularly bothered who they upset - terrorism from afar.

On Radio 4 in the early hours, there was an American aviation expert on , saying he was aware that that particular plane had previously been rear ended by another plane (on the ground of course), and that also a further plane of the same type , also rear ended , crashed on a following flight . He also said that in the most recent one, there was no signs of an implosion or explosion , indicating it could have been more likely that following the shunting incident, if the correct repairs were not addressed, crucial parts may have detached , causing a crash.

The way I heard it, this aircraft had been involved in a "tailstrike", which isn't the same as being hit by another aircraft, but can lead to problems if repairs aren't done correctly.

Think i read the tailstrike was back in 2001 so was repaired and been happily flying the last 14 years.

There hasn't been another Airbus A321 breaking up in flight, though the A321-200 series are prone to tail strikes.

The aircraft often quoted as an in-flight breakup after a tail strike was a Boeing 747-200, the breakup happened 22 years after the tail strike was badly repaired.

You can check out the A321 accidents HERE - to save time the CAT A1 accidents are airframe loss.

It was said earlier, on one of the news channels, that the plane was flying at over 30,000 ft when it happened. Could a tailstrike still be the cause ? There was no mention of possible explanations.

The previous tailstrike could be the cause, if the repairs had been done incorrectly. The stress on the pressure hull at 30,000 ft. is considerable. A failure would have resulted in explosive decompression; I think that this is a likely cause.
There have been at least two previous cases, one seven years and one twenty two years after tailstrikes which had been incorrectly repaired.

Russia has this morning confirmed that traces of explosive have been found in the wreckage and luggage of the aircraft that crashed in the Sinai.

just a question Chris," would a decompression cause an implosion rather than an explosion?"The holes in the wreckage all pointed to an interior explosion.X amount of repairs on a new plane build results in millions being knocked off or out of contract and is sold on cheap to a cheapskate operator. The plane will then have a shorter life span and require to be checked more often.

If that 'act' was in retaliation for Russia bombing Syria, the amount of time between the two, just shows how quickly ISIS can react and what a massive impact they can accomplish in such a short space of time.

Whilst the West thinks about negotiating or what to do !!

Also thought that Mr Putin , having originally taken off in a show of might, could be possibly floating down to earth a bit and realising the implications of his actions, which will lead to a more massive battle that had probably not even entered his head would happen.

A decompression would cause an explosion. To put some figures on it:
The cabin would be pressurised to the equivalent of about 10,000 feet, where the pressure is about 10.3 psi. The aircraft was at about 30,000 feet, where the pressure is about 4.6 psi. That means that there would be a pressure difference of about 5.7 psi, acting outwards. Once the pressure hull was breached, the effect would be an explosion.
