Morrisons staff on Merseyside can heave a sigh of relief about their jobs after it emerged they would not be hit by the latest round of store closures.
Hundreds of staff around the region had been forced to wait days to hear if their branch was among the 11 that Morrisons said last week would be closed in a cost saving measure that would result in 900 redundancies.
The closure plan was revealed as the Yorkshire-based supermarket chain posted half-year results showing falling sales and profits.
The group said it would close 11 stores around the country, but at first did not say which stores would be affected. Now Morrisons has confirmed that the stores to close are all outside Merseyside.
