It’s official:

nerves really do make people fail their driving test.
Those who fail are almost twice as anxious and have
faster heart rates than those who pass.

Researchers from Liverpool John Moores University
found that nerves brought on by a fear of the examiner
and of perceived failure in the eyes of friends or
family can lead to a collapse in performance, a
phenomenon they term “choking”. In one test it was
found that the heart rate of those who passed was
less than 120 beats per minute while those of
failures beat at 140. Some driving schools offer
relaxation techniques to candidates to
help combat anxiety.

My nerves got to me first time around.
Couldnt even remember half of the test

Well i failed twice in the driving schools car but passed in my own car, i think its true i was more relaxed in my car than in the brand new polo.

i failed twice in my instructors car near my RAF base,but i had my 3rd test in upton in my dads (who is an instructor) car and passed.would i put the first two down to nerves,yes,not fully tho,as stress and nerves shouldnt affect a good driver

i passed first time though i was nervous as hell.

in my first test i had the fella that examines the examiner!! i bottled it. i only got 2 minor faults but the examiner failed me coz i tapped the curb doin a parallel park. passed the 2nd time though. takin it again is easier coz you know what to expect then.
