A dog has been found abandoned at a railway station along with a suitcase filled with his belongings.

The Scottish SPCA is keen to trace the owner of shar pei-crossbeed Kai, who was discovered tied to a railing outside Ayr station on Friday.

He was accompanied by a case containing items including a pillow, toy, food and bowl.

The dog was sold on the Gumtree website in 2013 and the charity is appealing for information to help trace whoever bought him.

Scottish SPCA inspector Stewart Taylor said: ‘The dog is microchipped and we were able to find out his name is Kai.

‘We contacted the owner registered to the microchip, who stated they had sold Kai on Gumtree in 2013. Unfortunately they could not tell us the address of the person who bought him.

Not much care taken by the person who sold him on Ebay to 'someone' -but didn't know their address frown but I fear for the person who left him there with his suitcase, I doubt they were being deliberately cruel as judged by the SPCA , sounds more like they were in a desperate position themselves and you dont always make the wisest decisions in such a state. Poor dog though .

That Gumtree site should have the pet section closed down, byb's selling puppies then they end up being dumped or in rescue centres.Theres so many offering a home for dogs like this that make the news but theres so many more in rescue but they get overlooked & will the people offering this dog a home & are unsucsessful think of rehoming a dog from a rescue.

This is why I hate the byb's selling on gumtree,I've seen posts on some of the Akita sites I'm on,they show pictures of good quality dogs when in effect they are selling poor quality dogs with no health checks & the woman didn't want to take the dog as it wasn't like the picture she had seen, she doesn't deserve a dog, they are more than looks & so he was a bit thin I'm sure with a proper diet he would of filled out.

The dog could of had health issues hence selling the dog. The only thing that would of filled out would of been the vets wallet. She did right in not taking the dog.

All the more reason to buy from a reputable source in the first place.
