The way things are going, we are heading back to the nightmare of the 80's when crime was rampant because unemployment was so dire. I'm not defending the benefits culture, but, what little money they were getting kept them relatively passive, but once they have that taken away, then they have nothing to lose and crime goes up.. Reading another report today people in Bebington, are experiencing a spate of crime. Criminals are walking from door to door checking inside cars, breaking the windows if they see something they want, breaking into houses randomly, depending on whether anyone answers the doors and police are warning residents to be vigilant. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/wirral-estate-terrorised-thugs-residents-8078407

The article refers to kids as young as 10 and "tiny children running around the estate at 11pm" so I hardly think it's because they need a job to pacify them.
If it was stealing food etc. to make ends meet then I could understand (but not condone) the link. But what is described here is just yobbish, anti-social behaviour from kids that presumably learnt it from their yobbish, anti-social parents.

Warning about car thieves in Ellesmere Port targeting expensive cars --breaking in to get keys. So much for all this expensive CCTV--only thing it seems to catch is your registration plate when you've slipped over the speed limit. Starting to feel like we may need to "arm" ourselves. any suggestions short of fire arms
