Oddly enough I recieved 2 emails off PayPal today, strange thing was one of them was fake.

aPparently my account was suspended due to improper use, so seems as I have misused it in the past I thought noooo.

Upon closer inspection it had a share to Facebook link on the bottom.

This was a very convincing email apart from the dear PayPal user bit.

So I decided to check it oot.

It takes you to a site which is the spot of PayPal apart from it has the wrong address at the top, if you click on the contact us link it loops back to the same page.

I had a bit of fun, I logged in with some vulgar remarks as the username and password and it took me too a confirm your details page.

It asks for your address and phone number, vulgar remarks left again.

Next page asks for your credit card details and the 3 digit pin.

I left a load of nonsense and abusive crap and hit submit.

It then takes you to a congratulations your no longer suspended page then redirects you to the real PayPal site probably so you don't think you have been duped.

The lengths they go to these days eh?

This is a reader version, the original email looks very real.

Once completed the forms this screen loads up.

Normally I just ignore these phishing emails but this one was so real I thought I had better warn the less fortunate of computer users who don't know a lot about them.
I can imagine there's quite a few people been duped by these ***ktards who are in India btw, sitting on their asses ripping the good folk of the uk off.
If I had an atom bomb and one place to drop it these ***** would sure as hell get it!!!

I never follow there links in an email.
I always visit via my browser and then check any internal mail.

Err not India now its Russia.
I have half of Asia blocked in our firewall for fake accounts.

I think you can forward them to [email protected] and they will get back to you if its spam or not.

But no back or financial institution should be sending you anything they will always ring you with your contact details.

The clue is in the addressee. When such emails are not addressed to the person by name then it is not genuine. This one is to pay pal member so that gives the game away immediately.
That is not, of course always the case as sometimes they can be addressed by name but they will stand out as unusual, e.g. Dear Smith/Brown/Jones but no first name.
Always assume they are phoney and you will probably be right.

Click Here <- VERY MUCH WORTH A READ

only read it earlier today, but it's essentially saying that even if it seemed legit, it might not be. Hackers with enough will and resources can simply go through Paypal or whoever's security, send an email actually FROM that company so it all looks legit (and to 99.99% of people IS legit) but have it relayed to another email address and steal your details. The website i have linked to is a surprising article about the complete lack of security in big company's online systems! - so your other email that you think was actually from paypal, may well not have been.

ALSO WORTH A READ <- about how hackers are now targeting smartphones rather than desktop/laptop computers because pretty much EVERYONE HAS EVERYTHING on their smartphone...
