Hi Gary.. been in a similar place 35 years ago despite having job car loving parental family etc. My help and "salvation" came through reading the book of Psalms in the bible where I read of people struggling through different circumstances that hit them in life-- and for me it was really part of Psalm 40 that helped and became a reality in my life..

Psalm 40 King James Version (KJV)

40 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

Have a mooch around charity shops for an old gideons bible it has a help section in it that points to specific words of wisdom.

ps you might even find one in the Library

I'm a single mum with a 4 year old and a full time job. By the time I finish work & collect my lad from school it's 5.30...then get him home, do his tea & get him to bed and then I'm stuck in on my own.

Flippin' Heck ... Being a Mum is a fulltime job in its self !!

The internet does provide some kind of company I guess but that feeling of loneliness is a painful one, even though you have unconditional love with your Son , my heart goes out to any of the single Mum's out there! x

Hopefully you'll have a Xmas get together at work and may get a xmas kiss / or a decent guy might sweep you off your feet when you're commuting or shopping etc !!

As for me ...I've got a cat , no job ,no money , no car ..So barely worth me thinking about dating or such like but being single is horrible

thanks for commenting

Why don't we have a singles night at a pub for all the Wiki people who would like to meet someone to make friends with?
For those who feel they wouldn't like to get too involved, they could go incognito without saying their Wiki usernames when meeting up, so no embarrassment if they didn't 'take' to each other.
This might be the answer for Gary and others in the same boat who don't know how to get started.

That was kind of what my post was originally about .. There not being a lonely hearts section and totally agree that sob stories are nice in a way , a problem shared is a problem halved and all of that , brings out the compassionate side of people sometimes!

oshocked 2 months!
Can they even do that?

I've not been on there for about 8 years but I seem to remember them giving some type of loan out to "tide you by" whilst they sort your claim.

You should look into it, 2 months with no money is ridiculous.

It's been at least 8 weeks ... may have been more and I've been told that there is no other option but to wait and wait and wait , I'm currently seeing Advocacy in Wirral regarding my claim and basically will have to wait possibly another 4 weeks without money whilst I await another "limited capabilty for work assessment" by the controversial French private company ATOS (who've paid the DWP 68million to cancel their contract early to be replaced by American company Maximus),or wait for result of a "mandatory reconsideration" ... Which is infuriating to say the least and definitely makes my anxiety and depression worsen by the day ... and sadly the system when a person is ill just doesn't care ... preferring to bamboozle with jargon and force people to justify their Doctor's opinion and their illness !!
