Husband turns wife’s ashes into fireworks and blasts her into the sky
A bereaved husband made sure his wife had a suitably explosive exit, by turning her ashes into a £250 box of fireworks including crackling dragon eggs and blue chrysanthemum bursts and firing them into the sky in a two-minute rocket display in Plymouth.
Annette Maunder, 55, came up with the idea herself as she died of cancer this year, and husband Gary carried out her wish this Saturday.
Former Royal Marine Gary, 55, sent Annette’s ashes to Essex-based firm Heavenly Stars Fireworks after she was cremated.
The firm then mixed her ashes into fireworks such as green peonies and gold tails, which Gary launched at Devonport Park in Plymouth, Devon.
Gary said: ‘She would have loved it. It’s a good way to send her off.
