Builder tells how he had to rescue Gazza from bush
A builder has told how he rescued Paul Gascoigne from a bush while he was in the depths of his latest binge.
Dan Lawrence, 31, and his 29-year-old brother Ben first mistook the former England footballer for a tramp when they saw him fumbling with a packet of cigarettes before dropping them in the gutter.
They offered to call him an ambulance but he staggered off towards his Sandbank home before taking a tumble and ending up in a rhododendron bush.
The pair had to haul Gazza, 47, out of the foliage and get him back on his feet.
Speaking to the Sun, Dan said: “We heard a thud. I saw two little legs sticking out of the bush.
