Jay,
Iam going against everyone else and say 'NO' don't buy it. IMO it's not you. Fantastic car but I think you may regret it. Unless you have driven it yourself, you haven't a clue how this particular will drive. How it handles, how practical it is for daily use. Insurance issues (value and mods etc). It's also a magnet for thieves and nobs. It could be one of those purchases you may regret in the near future.

Lol, Dave, it handles like a PIG no doubt as there is far too much power on very little weight, but hey, thats what i am after, some serious sideways fun...... Insurance is sorted, i can cover it under my Motor Trade Policy at NO additional costs. Nob's dont bother me neither, i have a gun for Nob's and not scared to use it on .... I may well regret it and i wont be very practical for daily use but i always have a spare car of the Van for daily use if need be. I am NOT going to pay over the odd's for the pleasure of owning it but MK1 escorts go for £3k - £5k without cosworth engines fitted so if i can get it at the right price then i want it, proppa. That way i can sell it in 6 months or so and i dont mind standing £500 or so for the pleasure of having some serious fun in the meantime. £100 a month for hiring a MK1 Escort Cosworth, Flaming bargain if you ask me matey Appreciate your honest reply though Dave and it has got me thinking but this is Old School at its best and i would love to get back to old school and even dabble with sprints and rallies n stuff. Any other opinions peeps ?? Or does everyone think i have gone mad

With the amount of us wanting to get into sprints/tracks it gives you more chance to participate. Tupac has just got his Xr4i, am looking for a nice little something and JohnWRX is crazy as hell too, youve said yourself you like this 'environment' and were as it may be a gamble - Your only really gambling ride luxury. Its cache 22 as you cant really have a tracktoy thats 100% comfortable, you opt for what suits you, i mean with the money left over from the scooby you can get a nice luxerious car such as a BMW or Merc.

Sell the scooby is getting added to the censored list right now No, seriously thats the next question, do i sell the scooby or keep her ?? Its not really practical to Keep 2 Rally Cars (Using that expression lightly) at all. Whats the point, alright the scooby is practical and very comfy which is an everyday car but i think you know what i mean ?? I learnt that one from the Rangy, its hard work having two expensive cars sitting about and you dont know which one to use. Each one has its own benefits but i would just love the drifting action of the Escort. Hmmmmmm.......... What do i do ?? Life is so unfair on occasions

put the scooby in storage. buy the escort like you said for 6 - 12 months sell it on for the same money.
then buy yourself a runaround. nothing silly. just cheap fun. like an older bmw that has comfort and class plus RWD. then when you sell the 'scort bring the scooby back sell the runaround and there you go 12 months of something different and all the time you will miss the scooby and then when you get back in it you wont want to sell it ever again.

Help needed peeps once again. The owner has replied to a £5,000 offer i have made him for the escort. He asked me to phone him to descuss in detail. Little old me got all my hopes built up and started thinking that this dream was coming alive. The owner only wanted to tell me he is sticking to his gun's at £6,000, i have managed to haggle him down to £5,500 provisionaly. I am considering buying it and using it for rallying. Keep the scooby for everyday use and just use the escort for occasional everyday driving and doing some sprints and track days. I will just use the escort as a toy and see how it goes. The owner tells me it is not safe in the wet due to serious loss of traction when turning
