Popped along yesterday with the kids. Nice to see the work they've done transforming the landfill site into something nice. Lovely views across the river too.

Only downside really is the Industrial setting all around the place. Some weird sounds and smells that waft across the place, and parking could be somewhat better.

Rudebox, yes you are on one. Yes it is a pile of rubbish that's been landscaped. The park has only just opened and yes there is still a lot that needs doing before it is finished, but it is certainly better than it was before any work was done on the old tip. Lastly the site has been rented and will be maintained by wirral autistic society giving people with special needs a chance to expand their experience and skills

Yes Finney, i am aware of this...I was 'moaning' about the pomp not the park itself. The views are fantastic and it will interesting to watch how the land and nature/ wildlife develops over time. smile

I haven't been to this spot yet, but I've seen other similar projects that start off as looking a bit mediocre. However, given a few years of help from Mother Nature and enthusiastic groups, the transformation can be amazing. I'll certainly have a blimp at the place next time I'm down.

Rude I do apologise, I read it that you were not happy with the park itself. I do hope local people and local businesses help to promote and support this venture as W.A.S Will need a lot of support in maintaining the site

Was is as busy as Tuesday? Any poo bags? (Me and Missy were discussing how some people may get fed up carrying the waste and just drop the bag- for anybody wondering as there are no bins)

One of the things they need is rubbish bins. You can't expect the great british public to take ALL their rubbish home, they just won't. This is particularly true for dog droppings.

I've not been to Bidston since that has opened, but I imagine the place will now give a good idea what the new park will look like a few years hence.

There are also problems with the access road to the United Utilities wastewater treatment plant crossing the main entrance to the site, as well as accesst ot the car park at the dock entrance which need sorting.

Perhaps the new land leading up to the A41 along the Dibbin will allow a solution to be found.

Rudebox, it's usual to have a load of speechifying etc. for these things. I dislike it as much as you do. The solution I've found is simply not to turn up for opening ceremonies.

However I can also understand that those people who fought for the thing to be put into place and worked hard to get funding etc. feel that having finally triumphed the occasion should be marked with some ceremony.
