Loaded up my car with bags of hedge cuttings only to be turned away at the tip at 7:30pm.(usual closing time 8PM) Not the only one either --a few peeved drivers turning round.
Found this on WBC website:

West Kirby Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) will be restricting its operating times during the Open Championship in July. The changes have been made due to the expected high volume of visitors to the area during the sporting event.

Between Sunday 13th and Sunday 20th July the HWRC will operate between 11.00am and 3.00pm, and not the regular time of 8.00am to 8.00pm.

The Centre is operated by Veolia on behalf of Merseyside Recycling & Waste Authority (MRWA).

Thanks I was going to pop in tomorrow about 9:00am to dump some bits but it looks as if that's off, don't like the Clatterbridge one as it's like a jail, with a big fence surrounding and the stupid Health and Safety fence blocking you as you go around.

Not complaining about the Golf --complaining about the tip not being open as it normally is. some people work in day and cant get there between 11 and 3pm.

Wednesday and Saturday Car Boot Sales at West Kirby FC have also been cancelled because of the Golf. Lost revenue for some.

Signs up on some of the side roads by the tip asking residents to park legally or be towed away--dont know what thats all about. scare tactics for visitors ?

CoOP at Newton lost my business as car park full and you cant park on the road now as its all coned off.

They were handing out leaflets at the tip when I went a couple of weeks ago, so I was forewarned about the changes. I think it was in the paper as well, but it's hard to reach everyone. Not everyone receives the free papers. Ah well, it's not for long - and I have to admit the cones have made driving around very easy! Was amused to see how two double decker buses managed to pass (slowly and carefully!) on Heron Road, though - when it's busy, that will slow things down a bit along there.

The only people benefitting from the golf are the course owners and local business's, the area has been tarted up at the expense of the rest of us, what benefit is it too areas like Tranmere, Rock Ferry, Prenton, Bidston etc etc? The people raking the cash in aren't going to be paying extra council tax or business rates for this week are they?

You need to look at the bigger picture, not just the local businesses making money for the duration of the tourament.

North West Tonight did a piece on the success and new industry coming into the Baltic Triangle on the back of the Liverpool City of Culture some years back.

Put on a good show and businesses will be impressed and see Wirral as an individual entity and not just a bit of Liverpool, but an area in its own right with the proximity of Liverpool.

There's 2 other tips within a 10 minute drive of that one. When I lived down south where the nearest tip was 15 - 20 miles away and way open 9 - 5 5 days a week!!!
