my cat bought a frog in and has injured its back leg.... I have put in an old fish tank with some water, but also a ledge to sit on. How else can I help Freddie? I've also added some insects for him!

Thanks.

clicky

Get a big tank if available if not a big, big bowl or jug.
2. Find a pond and get a jar full of that and put it in. (DO NOT use tap water because that can kill them)
3. Put some stones at the bottom.
4. Put shallow pond water in there (really shallow) then put a few pond weeds in there.
5. Then go to a pet shop (fish section) and ask what to feed a frog.
There you go and when he is better release him!

You can use gold fish food for food. Hope this helps!

if it has a cut bathe it in a diluted iodine solution and remember not to touch it with your bare hands it could harm the frog and/or you

Thanks, unfortunately Freddie didn't make it, but at least we tried to make his last moments comfortable.

Aw, God love you trying to help this wild creature....

A few years back we heard loud- I mean LOUD 'squeaks' of distress from Magpie birds in our front garden, we were stunned at how loud they were- wondered what was going on??

Upon closer inspection, I saw (I kid you not) Magpies practically throwing themselves at the house, in distress.

Amongst all this chaos, we find our cat- Ginge, perched on the Little loos window ledge, calm as you like with a fledgling in his mouth. We let him in to the house and Plusone wrestled the little bird out of his mouth.....

All we could do was capture the tiny little thing- who was not moving at the time (dead)? and 'park' him at the bottom of the tree where his parents resided (all the time the parents were still like wailing banshees and flying down really close, in attack mode.

Anyway, several weeks later- we realised that we had 3 Magpies in our tree...best feeling ever laugh They have since moved on but I like to think the ickle one survived.

Aw,at least you did your best to save it.He would be helpless with a broken leg,Probally the shock added it to it as well.Same goes when a cat captures a bird,They suffer more from shock,Then there heart just stops beating.
