Ladybirds out today. 6 of them clustered together on top of the thyme leaves, sunbathing. Doesn't nature make you feel good ?

Very busy with insects around here, no doubt the slugs and snails will be loving this warm rain too.
Saw a Comma butterfly yesterday.
Comma butterfly's are very pretty. Bumblebees today and 2 black butterflies darting around all over the place. They looked a largish size and all black but probably weren't. Having fun and making babies maybe. Don't know what they could be, can anyone help?

Saw the same again today, so shot out to look properly. Obviously the light had caught it the wrong way and it was in fact a peacock butterfly. (dark underneath, so far as I could see ) Should have gone to spec savers !

The peacock butterfly has brownish-red wings, each with a single, large peacock-feather-like eyespot – used to scare predators. It rests with its wings closed, showing the almost black, well-camouflaged underside.
