The Wallasey Corporation Tramway system closed on November 30, 1933.
On Saturday the November 16 the Birkenhead Tramway / Merseyside Tramway Preservation Society commemorated the closure of the Wallasey Corporation Tramways by operating a special tour.
The tour involved preserved Wallasey Corporation Tramways Car 78 operating to Woodside Ferry terminal from Taylor St. Depot.
At Woodside passengers transferred to preserved Wallasey Corporation Atlantean Bus FHF451 - Number 1 the first Leyland Atlantean Bus to enter service in 1958. The Mayor of Wirral was also one of the passengers.
The bus proceeded to Seacombe Ferry Terminal from where it followed Wallasey Tramways route "P" the final route to be operated in November 1933.
The event did not appear to be heavily supported perhaps due to a lack of advertising - but was none the less interesting.
As well as commemorating the end of the Wallasey Tramways The Birkenhead Tramway was operating Lisbon car 760 on a "24 Hour Tramathon" supporting Children In Need.
