I opened up my works computer after a week away, it's been turned off and unplugged When it starts up it shows a fatal error kernel32.dll file and sone program's won't work, I have tried the system restore however it can't comple the process .
How do I get the file back without restoring the whole computer

Thanks but I have tried all the places you suggested and downloaded a few fixes but at the end of it all I need to pay £20 with no guarantee of fixing the problem

Do a search on another pc for the location of such a file.
Copy and paste the file from another machine. You've nothing to loose.
What version operating system are you working with.
P.s. Try a scan disk it can fix many problems too. So the error your searching may not even be the problem.

Its probably due to the power being switched off at the pc. And not powered down. A scan disk could fix it.

Still no luck I have downloaded a few fixes now and got nowhere
Anyway how do I get a scan disk I am a it thicko

In windows,
Open my compter Right click on Drive C and select properties. An new window will open. Across the top select tools Select Scan Disk / Check Drive.
* You will get a prompt about it being busy. * Just say yes as its saying do you want a scan disk to start after the next reboot.
Restart your computer it will do a scandisk as windows starts up.
