Why not print them single yourself or a friend do it and then laminate them together with a blank sheet in between them as a double sided, May work out cheaper in the long run

You can do it yourself, you can find all kinds of ways to make it cheaper, but it does depend on the impression you are trying to make.
If you're looking at a few thousand I'm guessing that its not just for inhouse, you're using them as flyers.
If you have a look at some of the menus that are pushed through your door you'll find that most have the printers name or details on them somewhere (usually very small and at the edge), so treat them as samples and pick one you like.
