Does anyone have the installation and drivers/ utilities disk for a Canon iP4300 printer?

I need to do a full restore on two of my machines (one XP one Win7) and I need the disk to put everything back together.

Yep, I know there are loads of downloads on the Canon website but too many variants & decisions for my ancient mind. I would much rather borrow the disk and make a copy.

Actually I would much rather FIND MY DISK - it is somewhere in my office room but a 2 hour hunt today failed to find it!!

Windows XP 32Bit Driver

Windows 7 this is a Printer Driver Add-On Module that expands the functionality of the printer driver for Canon Inkjet printers as included in Windows which suggest to me that the basic printer driver is included in the windows 7 build ?.

the until's I would just download the ones with the highest number at the end they would be the latest ones smile

SR
Thank you kind Sir. The XP machine is now up and running again.

The Win 7 machine is maybe a bit more problematic. As you say the Canon text seems to indicate that the basic printer driver is part of Win 7 and that the files on their website add some "twiddly bits".

It happens that the Win 7 laptop machine is one on which I am currently doing some important work ie preparing slides for a presentation I will give in SE Asia in 10 days. I will likely be giving the presentation from slides on my laptop. "They" may, probably will, provide a machine and I can simply show slides from a USB stick ..... just do not know. However, I intend to delay the Big Restore on the Win 7 laptop until I return just in case it all goes t*** up. These things happen. I am not IT/ techy minded so would be unable to sort things out. However, with the success of the XP driver job I am very hopeful the Win 7 job will be equally so.

While I continue to hunt for my original iP4300 disk I will still be grateful to anyone who can lend me one for a short while.

Meanwhile, my thanks to SR

I would agree waiting until your presentation is done, I've just checked my windows 7 driver library and I can see the drivers there as default so it should be a matter of once windows is re installed, you plus the printer in and you can use it there and then but any of the additional functions that come with it would require the add on module.

The expression "it never rains but it pours" springs to mind

After all the issues with the ip4300 described above everything was working fine. I was printing things last night and all was well.

THIS MORNING !!! mad mad

I started to print an email and - error note
Look at the printer and the orange error light is flashing
I follow the instructions of "press resume" - nothing
Switch off and restart - nothing

Disconnect the printer completely from the computers - nothing. Still flashing

5 repetitive flashes. The handbook says - printer head problem.
Following the instructions I remove the printer head (looks clean) and set it up again - same problem. All ink tanks are full enough.

Curses! I have a spare basic printer that will do for the moment but HOW ANNOYING for the printer to give up like that when I am in semi-panic mode before a business trip.

Yes, printers are not too expensive these days and I can get another quickly if I really need to do that. BUT - DO I need to get a replacement? A shop / Canon repair is economic nonsense but is there anything that anyone can suggest as a DIY remedy?????

Normally you would down load that Series for your printer so ip400 series should contain the ip4300 drivers as required.

The problem you now have is not software but hardware.
I'm not upto speed with your printer but i have come across HP printers where the heads are actually out of date and you have agree to opt out of the guarantee if you wish to continue to use them. That happens when the full installation disc is used.

* Get down level where the paper is fed into the printer and see if there is a paper jam?

I'm sure if you were with out a printer many including my self would offer to print out your documents for you if you became stuck.

Mark, Thank you for the offer but I am ok for the moment. I have a older Canon iP1000 printer which although it is slow (and very noisy) will do for what I want. Anyway, I have uploaded all my documents to my Google cloud and have given the company abroad access - THEY can print everything. That also saves me from having to carry them.

No, there is no paper jam. I have looked very carefully. As stated it worked perfectly all of yesterday but just went into "I do not want to know" mode when I switched everything back on this morning.

Regards Snod

Just check all compartment doors are closed and everything is seated correctly. Sometime the error is not the error we think it is.

Hope you get there in the end.
