Hi, I'm looking into handing in my notice at work which would be 4 weeks period, I have Annual leave booked 18th-22nd Feb, 6th-9th & 18th-22nd March. I booked them last year and have been granted, would i be able to take these days in with my working notice of would it be better for my manager to honor me them.
Thanks

Best way is to talk it through with your manager so much depends on your contract. If you have worked sufficient time to have earned those holidays then you will be entitled to take the holidays or get paid in lieu.Depends when your holiday period runs from or if you are allowed a period of grace. What I mean is that this is early in the year and normally you have to have worked for a certain length of time in each period but many companies allow holidays to be carried over into the next year.

if that's outside of the time you'll be with the trust, you can rearrange them
if by my calculations you handed your notice in tomorrow, you would be leaving on the 22nd feb (my birthday xD) which means the holidays you have in march you would either need to rearrange or lose.
HOWEVER if you're moving jobs within the NHS ie to a different department or trust, your new manager should honour them IF you told them about it during the interview, if not, they're not obliged to honour it.
if you're moving out of the NHS for your new job into a private company, again you need to tell them but some private firms don't pay you for annual leave like the NHS does (one good thing about working for them)
you're best speaking to your new manager first and asking if those holidays could be honoured, if not, speak to your current manager about rearranging the holidays as they should let you do it. if not, your manager's crap to be honest... as it's your right to use them A/L days, however there is a stipulation that it also can't leave the department dangerously short staffed.
just out of curiosity, where/what dept is it you work at (PM me with the details if you don't want to mention it)

Hi Jawide - I'm handing my notice in on the 28th, so my last day would be the 25th, right? I'm moving to a different hospital bit closer to home! I did tell my new manager about them I'm not sure if she would give me them tho as holidays as I've not worked there long enough, as for my old manager I'm not sure how to ask about the rest of the annual leave I've had some sickness recently and shes not really approachable!
Thanks

Thanks you're getting out of there anyway, so approachable or not, if you're owed them, you are entitled to take them.
