Last time I heard it was 5th of December but I know things have a habbit of going over schedule.

link to Wirral councils roadworks and diversions page below says 16 weeks from 24 August which would take closure up to 7 January 2013!!

they've been hitting the other bridge with a hammer quite a bit this week so something might be happening??

Don't bank of that. The hammering is from the automatic, hydraulic hammering machine they've bolted to the main girders. It goes off in random bursts. The "workers" are in the adjacent hut, playing cards and gulping down the cheap Vodka!!

The bridge will be open for a week in March 2013, then closed again for an indefinite period whilst they rectify the bodge ups!
