Hiya folks , has anybody had a puppy that has had a bad reaction to these worming tablets. Our pup had a tablet this morning , and since tea time , has had shaking and possible fit attacks. He isnt showing any pain symptoms. These seem to last for 10 mins or so , before he perks up.He's had about 4 of these episodes since about 5pm.Obviously i will take him the vets if it carries on in the morning, but any advice in the meantime would help. Thanks ..

Not the same but my cat is always 'off colour' for about 24 hours when I use the flea drops that you put on the back of their neck, no matter which brand I use.

Always perks up the next day though.

Hope your pup's ok tomorrow, keep us updated x

Don't know about the worming tablets but a friend of mine had 2pugs and she put bob Martin flea collars on both of them and sadly one of them had a bad reaction to the collar. I would keep an eye on your pup and have a read up on the Internet and see what it says about the tablets. I'm only going on what she said about the flea collar. Hope your pup is ok smile

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Get-Bob-Martins-products-off-the-Shelves/265912996765961?fref=ts < Does this tell u something !! stuff has caused so many deaths of animals all over its being petitioned to get off shelves all the time ! my cat started frothing at mouth years ago and thank god i washed it straight off it seemed ok but after googling i was horrified at amount of places that have banned it all for causing fits an slow traumatising death in way too many cases ! funnily enough i came across this facebook group about a week ago an think its important to share ! (this ISNT started on facebook btw just coincidence i found it but the research and accounts have been going on many years its just unheard of until its your poor pet its happened to :o(

Hi, weve just got back from the vets.Wilson is having to stay in there today as the vet is 99.9% sure that he has been poisened from the worming tablets.HOPEFULLY , after speaking to poison control , the vet thinks that this will run its course in about 48hrs , with no long term effects for Wilson. The vet himself was very strong in his opinion that , like some have already said , Bob Martin should not be sold at all , never mind over the counter. Thanks for all responses btw , much appreciated..Pete..

NEVER NEVER buy or use any type of flea treatment from a retail shop.
ONLY buy from a vet as anything from a shop either doesn't work or will cause your pet bad reactions or death.
You can buy from the vets without having to pay for a consultation for most brands of the spot on type. One type that you may have to speak to a vet is called Advocate which is excellent as it kills ear mites as well as fleas.
Don't try to save a small amount of money on shop bought types, your pet will suffer or can die!

Hope your puppy is feeling better asap.

We use Drontal puppy for worming and Effipro for fleaing etc These are sold by vets (some sell the pippettes seperatley for about £7) however we buy ours from Animed Direct for much cheaper and no postage and they are really quick.

Virbac spray is good for spraying house when fleaing (don't get it from vets they charge £18) online it's half the price.

I got Advocate from a vet when my cat had ear mites, it worked brilliantly but was really expensive. Do you know any reputable websites I can buy this from?

You could try looking here http://www.vetuk.co.uk/pet-meds-prescription-only-c-21 only drawback is you need to get a prescription from your vet.

Thanks baldy, I'll ring my vets and see if they'll give me a prescription without a consultation. Not too hopeful though because they won't be making any money out of it!

Ring Birch Vets 652 3284 and ask if you need a prescription for these tablets, some kinds don't need a prescription so you don't have to see a vet. You would have to pay for a scrip to be written and therefore it would probably cost the same as seeing a vet even by saving money by buying off the internet. I think you could buy suitable tablets or better still the Spot on kind which don't require a scrip. Birch are very helpful and cheapest.

+1 for advocate. Worth every penny. My springer pup had a REALLY bad reaction to bob martin flea treatment. Shaking , blood in stools, even yelping when going down steps etc. DONT TOUCH BOB MARTIN. Really its not worth taking the risk to "save" a few bob. Hope every thing is ok

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses
