Thursday 15th November 2012 we the people can decide who will be the Police and Crime Commissioner for our locale.

I knew nothing about what this meant and what effect, if any, it would have about how Wirral is policed?

Heres a link with the candidates profiles and what they stand for and whats at stake.

Hope its of interest

It may well be of interest but tbh I dont think there is enough information about any of the candidates, no clear strategies on crime and on how they would change Policing in the area... think this is very much in danger of being a 'Political scramble' and about which party gets elected at the expense of our Police force frown

People without the internet dont know much about this....

Complete shambles frown

It's not about how the public want to be policed, it's just another
political setup, if as usual anything goes wrong, "lessons will be learn't", a Quango for the boys and girls by any other name,I won't vote, because nothing will change only the excuses.

When and how do you vote? That Paul rimmer, English democrats seems to talk the talk.

Privatisation by the back door.

why are all the candidates aligned to political parties - why not just some regular people who want the best for the community - not someone with a political agenda

For anyone interested to know WHY all the affiliations to political parties, I suggest you read The Rest Is Silence by James Patrick. It's currently available for a short time as a free ebook on Amazon.

It will explain just why. Interesting links with G4S (the company chosen to offer civilian services & custody staff) and SERCO (the company who seem to be taking over the NHS) too.

If you are concerned with the future of Policing and just what PCC's will mean, I strongly suggest you read it.

A lot of people seem to think that the Police are just annoyed at their pensions being messed with (same with the NHS, Armed Forces, Fire Brigade & Paramedics) but it really isn't that at all.

Some of the information in the book was no shock to me as I'd already done some research into the links between the Home Office, Theresa May, Tom Winsor, G4S etc. This goes further.

Nepotism springs to mind!

I'm surprised there's not been many discussions about this.
Me - I'm non the wiser who to vote for, the candidates all say the same things and I just think it's just more bureauocracy.
Personally I don't think it will change how the police forces will be run.

Candidates were not allowed any money for mailshots so most of us have to rely on the web for info.It is supposed to be a non political job but only one candidate on Merseyside says he is independent. The others all very firmly nail their colours to their party.75 million pounds spent on what would appear to be a non event for most people as it seems that many many folk consider it all a farce and just another well paid and mainly ineffective role.

I'm one of the ones who spoilt my vote.

Have voted eve since I was 1st allowed to and felt wrong, but I feel not turning up wasn't an option as a protest, spoiling my paper shows I was unhappy like nearlly 3000 other's on merseyside.

Less than 1 in 8 voted in merseyside.
