I was very annoyed, on a visit to my local supermarket today, to see a big poster announcing that FIREWORKS WILL BE ON SALE ON 15TH OCTOBER. This is ridiculous! Like a lot of people, I HATE noisy fireworks, and the idiots around our area who ignite them prematurely. November 5th is a few weeks away yet, so why are these supermarkets selling them already?

Smacks of one word, as is it does with the premature selling of Christmas stuff: COMMERCIALISM.

i agree, should be banned for public sale, only organised ones should be permitted. every year children are burned, animals and the elderly frightened.

Ban fireworks ban kids playing footy in the streets ban smoking in a pub ban people having their hoods up in the shops penalise people for looking under 25g bit are blatantly over 18 when trying to buy beers make people pay to park in tiny places I.e. liscard and birkenhead sorry to rant but let a few more people do what they like... I'm sure we had a war in the not to distant past to ensure we didn't live in a dictatorship.

That's only three weeks before the day, which isn't "a few" weeks. You come across as a bit of a Victor Meldrew; could that be why you're having trouble finding a job?

Is it not perfectly normal for shops to sell fireworks a few weeks before bonfire night?.

Have they tightened the rules recently?. The last couple of years its been the quietest I can remember in the run up to bonfire night. The year before last I didnt hear a single wizz bang until the night its self. Maybe the sort of folk who let them off in the street will nilly cant afford to buy them anymore.

Dont think the timing of shops selling them is the problem, but I think it would be better if fireworks were in two categories. Sparklers , and everything else. Sparklers could be bought by anyone over 18, and all other fireworks should only be purchasable from wholesalers directly to organized community firework organizers.

maybe they should be banned all together, and maybe ban smiling, and kids playing in the street...etc...etc...

surely its all about opinions, and we should not target individuals opinions, discussion is a good thing.

I have always preferred the Organised Events at the Parks etc

To me, fireworks (the legal 'shit ones-lets face it, they are shit unless you are 5 years old) are a waste of money. Just farts with a piss pot explosion.

But people buy them and why should they be restricted, time scale wise? Maybe peoples 'pay day' does not coincide with Nov 5th?

Its the 'back of the lorry' ones that I worry about getting into the wrong peoples hands....

Just re-quoting previous posts is not very helpful in advancing the argument, sunnyside.

Me and thee will take a mooch up to the Park, this year like most years, invite The Kids (young adults) to join us. Take a walk along the Prom back home, to take in Liverpools offerings.

Maybe feed them 'chilli and jacket spuds'

Or then again, may not be arsed atall....

There's too much banning of everything these days just because some folk don't like whatever it is. Pretty soon nothing will be allowed frown
