Hi all av just had the bad news that my car will cost more to repair than it will ever be worth. My car is an Sreg escort GTi and i'm thinkin can I transplant the engine and stuff into any other escort or is it not that simple.

Zetec really as it will be plug and play, what the reason behind the transplant as the 1.8 Gti engine is only 115bhp?

Buy a new car, poss Rs 2000, will cost you more to transplant than your mot so no point mate unless you get a body for nowt.
Other option is buy another gti as they are cheap unless they been modded with the 2.0 litre conversion but even then they are only a 15bhp increase.
I got 2 cars for sale if you wanna change, 250bhp Saab turbo or an Astra gsi 16v @ approx 175bhp for £1200 each.

I'v seen them I think my car is in the same yard as them. I would love to buy either of them but the insurance would cripple me they don't like me. Ha ha

Alrite mate yes was speaking with dilly today didn't know that was your gti. I'd look for another one mate before they rocket in price like the xr2's, I've been after an xr2 for a while but they're all dead expensive. See loads of gti's on eBay if you still want to stick with those.
