I witnessed a horrific attack on a German Shepherd this evening in Mersey Park. A huge white dog ran over and basically tried to kill him, causing bad injuries which included, his ear torn, nose was practically bitten off and his eye has been puncurted. It was the worst thing i have ever seen. I have phoned RSPCA, police and the dog patrol and was basically fobbed off. Please be aware the dog has been seen a number of times in this park by other dog walkers who witnessed this attack.

My dog doesn't like other dogs, I knew this when I got him and although it wasn't a problem I hoped I could train it out of him.
With people, absolutely fine, you can do anything to him, just other dogs.
After several months I can now make him sit and wait as other dogs pass by, his is never off the lead/harness and has a bright orange collar with NO DOGS written all the way round it.
A few weeks ago in the park the typical status symbol was being walked (off the lead) and started to run towards mine, I shouted them to call him back but they just ignored me.
Theirs ran up, and started snapping at mine, who promptly bit him. They took notice then, screaming I was going to get sued and my dog was dangerous, that their dog was worth hundreds/thousands etc etc

To me it's simple, all dogs are licenced, all dogs are chipped, police/dog wardens can scan a dog at any time and if it's details aren't up to date it's an instant fine and confiscation of the dog until they are.

For responsible owners this won't effect them in the slightest, for the irresponsible ones it'll be a wake up call.......and they'll always have ID with them......their dog.

it is a shame that there are people who have dogs but dont take control of them, more responsible owners as your self are a credit to pet owners.

Come across loads of owners like this, usually fu**wits with status symbal dogs, they can afford the dogs but don't buy leads or collars, and if the dog doesn't do what the want it gets hit/kicked, all owners should be vetted. I was out with my GSD, she was on a lead, a pit / staffie ran up to her and started snapping had words with fu**wit his reply " its only a puppy", not a lead in sight.....

I agree same thing happens with Misty took time to get her trained after being in kennels for so long & I do the same thing make her stand still till the other dog has passed. She only gets off the lead on the beach when theres no other dogs around

Really I think you should muzzle your dog if it's taken to public places where friendly dogs are let off the leads. Many friend;y dogs run up to other dogs, it's a social thing and some times before the owner has chance to stop them, or they could be a puppy still learning to obey...
I understand it's not your fault that your dog doesn't like others and you have tried to train it out of him/her. But until you are successful then a muzzle would help matters and stop some of your worry when other dogs approach.
