Friends Of Wallasey Central Library will be holding a Japan Day on the 18th August. 10am-1pm & 2pm-4pm. There will be lots of things going on:
# Learn to draw manga characters # Origami lessons # Basic Japanese classes # Wear kimonos and yukatas # Free children's activities and games # Book sale # Raffles # Japanese food and drink table # Performance of traditional Japanese shamisen music # Lots of free leaflets and booklets # Exhibition on Blue Funnel Line links to Japan # Samurai armour display

Proceeds will be split between St. John's Hospice & Friends Of Wallasey Central Library.
Tickets currently on sale for the Basic Japanese classes and Manga drawing classes.
The Japanese classes are £3 per person and include a cup of tea or coffee. Times: 1030-1100 & 1410-1440.
The Manga drawing classes are also £3 per person. Times: 1010-1040; 1050-1120; 1130-1200; 1210-1240; 1410-1440; 1450-1520; 1530-1600.
There will also be two free talks:
1200-1230 Joanne will talk about her experiences living and working in Japan in the 1990s for Unilever.
1530-1600 Helen will give a talk about the beautiful and complex Japanese writing system. Both ladies are entertaining and informative speakers.
In the Children's Library there will also be free activities such as storytelling and games with prizes. Contact the Children's Library for more information.
