Over the past few days , I've been receiving phone calls from people supposedly representing Microsoft engineers suggesting there is a fault with my software and asking me to turn on my computer so they can access it and 'repair' the problem . They were not too clear on the nature of the problem but were quite persistent - even to the point of asking me when I would be available to phone me back. I felt there was something a bit fishy about this to say the least and fobbed them off. I mentioned this to colleagues at work and was told it is a scam to get on to your computer and basically gain access to everything on it - just thought I'd warn everyone if it's a new scam.

Hi this scam been going on for years my mum who is 82 got caught out by them & had to hand over her card details for some "fix" they direct you to a website where they then access your machine remotely after you agreeing to do so - they then plant trojans in your machine & steal all your personal data everytime you log in to your bank etc
Microsoft would never ring you to tell you that you have a virus but vulnerable people would be taken in by this - fracking parasites grr grr
