Any body remember going to the banger racing at
New Brighton?
Might remember Stan Woods invader driver no 513 he was allways very spectacular and had a very big following of fans unfortunatley he passed away last year. But there is to be a memorial race meeting held at Stoke raceway on the 28th April
some of you may know it as chesterton it is to be a old skool type meeting for pre 1970 ish cars and there is a massive booking list already many drivers that raced at new brighton and crewe coming out for guest appearances.
just thought some of you might be interested if so hope to see you there thumbsup

Its not the same topic mate. this one is all about the STAN WOODS 513 memorial meeting at stoke on the 28th april mate banger racing websites are going mental about it. it looks like being a fantastic turnout !!!!!!!!!!!!! 70+ cars booked in and just turn up and race allowed ! so poss up to 100 cars !

am i right in thinking it costs £170 to enter for licences ?

I spent many sundays watching the racing at new brighton and knew some of the guys from the UFO team from gingers scrapyard in neston.

Hi all I used to race at Kirby and New Brighten. I was a member of the Road Hogs Team My Name is Reg Whittam, 117 I teamed up with Steve Swanwick 116, Johnny Barker and Lal.
I was racing an old Rover 90. Which always over heated. I believe I had been christened Reggie sauna baths.
We raced until a girl was killed in the pits from flying debris.
After that the rules changed regarding engine size etc, after storing our cars over winter at which time we gave it up.
I pics when I find them. Watch thus space. I'll add them when I find them.

In the tower grounds, originally it was an athletic track and football ground but also used for motorcycle races and various shows. It used during WW2 by Americans for vehicle storage, very briefly became a greyhound track before becoming a stock car track for a small number of years.
