Hi all.
As the waters are warming up and the fish are starting to feed again i thought it would be good to start a fishing thread just scanning through i noticed there isn't alot of information about fishing wirral's waters on here and there isnt an active fishing thread. i'm not sure if there are many fellow angler's on here but thought i would start this thread so any angler's can update us on how they got on at a certain public/day ticket venue. what fish were caught and baits and methods used etc. this will be beneficial because baits and techniques vary from venue to venue. so this thread would not only tell people how well birkenhead lower park is fishing but what people are getting better results from. i fish most of the AWAC waters and they all fish really really well. it will be helpful not only for the public venue's but also the day ticket's. the amount of times i have heard people spending money on bait and then there day ticket price and then blanking or doing rubbish. it would be good to hear from people who have been the venue's and find out if its worth the £10 in the first place and get some tips on baits they used. i will add a load more info on wirral venue's and reports on how places are fishing currently but first are there any angler's on here and what's your sport? and favourite venue's in wirral?

i'm mainly in it for the carp but always have to have a pole on me for the silver's and tench smile i love fishing for anything really but nothing beats having a big lump on the end of your line.

i do the occasional day on denhall fisheries in neston. Nice place , the specimen lake isnt the easiest of waters and you couldnt describe it as a runs water but the fish are catchable with a bit of patience and skill.

his other lake can get silly at times even in the winter months with multiple catches of carp to be had throughout the day.

Moreton quarry is always a good venue even in deep winter, theres so many carp in there that you cant fail to catch if you fish rods in various depths. Float fishing up in the water with small pellets and firing out micro pellets does really well once the water has warmed up in late spring

if she will sit there as long as she's catchin mate.if you don't mind not catchin monsters but wanna bag full. i recommend taking her to birkenhead park lower(not match pond. lake with boathouse) if you use omen or mantra groundbait by bait-tech from the fisherman down the north end. bout £3. and get her on a little whip pole. payed £7 in that same shop for 1 for ma gf. put her on an on the drop ready made pole rig with low breaking strain and size 18 hooks with double red maggot. fish it shallow about 2 foot from surface and her float won't stand up straight all day mate. slowly starts tilting up to stand up an its gone before the bait hits its depth. on a nice day especially. roach and rudd galore and the odd TRUE crucian. just put the odd ball of ground bait in. fish the same area on the bottom with a small peice of luncheon meat and there are some bream the size of ya hand and some lovely tench to about 2-3 lb. fish about 2 foot from the bank and she won't stop pulling out gudeon on every drop and the odd barbel to about 1/2 lb only got stocked recently. you could see the growth rate over the summer though and they are gunna be lovely fish. if your a fan of the crucians in there then fish double or triple red maggot over a bed of halibut micro pellets on 2lb line with size 18 hooks pretty shallow. maybe 2 - 3 ft from surface and you get em all day.
