Does anyone know what is happening to Volclay on Birknhead Road, Seacombe? It's great they have demolished it, just curious what it's going to be. I can't find anything in Planning for it.

Also, is there a planning thread on here? I can't find one, and it may be useful if one was created so we can post any planning applications which others may be concerned about.

I have no idea but Houses or flats seem to be the default replacement for almost everything these days.

That is a well known area for drug users and anti social behaviour, I really can't see anyone building apartments there as the prices will be low.

The thing is though, 20 years ago know one would have thought people would be moving into secure and swanky apartments on Liverpool and Wallesy dock roads.

On the other hand, I seem to recall a couple of years ago that mps where toying with the idea of creating 'sin bin' estates to dump anti social families in that had been evicted from elsewhere and that area was one of the suggested sites. It was never really going to happen though.

They have cleared all the machines, and left the 'silver' office building, which they have put new windows in and done it up, looks like they are also building an extension to it. Not houses tha's for sure, although what a great bit of land all over that area for nice houses. That would also have the effect of brining the rest of the area up....(if that's possible) smile

The council development document 2010 listed the development of Scotts Quay to be around 2020-2025.

Amcol bought Volclay out.

Peel have got a LOT of plans for the Wirral, including a development all the way from Woodside down to near enough Eastham.

Its mostly long term stuff, as their current and future developments start returning money they like to know their options as to how to use the money.

All in favour of them developing on scrap land or modern sites, but I'd like to see them a bit more sympathetic to heritage stuff as well. I couldn't believe they kicked the historic warships out, I thought the ships would be a positive asset to their development not a negative one.

Hey they don`t care about herritage it`s not theirs they invest here purely for the money and they have shed loads of the stuff ,if they thought it would give them an income i think they would do some thing but only to make them selves look good in the eye`s of who ever they are trying to impress at the time smile

I know they are money based - but in their literature when they are selling/leasing, heritage aspects are normally a plus, the historic warships would have taken up a minimal amount of develop-able land whilst being a major feature.

Yes have to agree here about the warships being a major feature, its a real shame i think they were an extra bonus that would have sat nicely alongside Peels development plans.
