I'm wondering if anyone here worked for Littlewoods Pools, Canning St Birkenhead between 1980-1996? I was there full time between 1980-1989 then had my daughter and went back to just working Saturdays until '96. They closed down that building in the late 90's and I know a lot of the workers had to find other jobs. I'd love to know if anyone remembers working there and the laughs we used to have

My Grandad who is in his 80's did the door to door collecting. He had worked there for years, certainly still worked there during my lifetime so it seems very likely he was there when you were - if we're talking the same place.

Its unlikely the door to door collectors would have met the girls in the Cannon st building, i might be wrong but my recollections of how the system worked was, and my father in law and a workmate were collectors. The door to door collectors were mostly employed elsewhere and collected the coupons on a part time or sideline basis, couple of nights a week or in the workplace, that type of thing, once they had all the coupons and money a main or area collector picked them up and i assume delivered them to Cannon st by what ever means required, remember they came from all over.
God help us, Come yourself, Don't send Jesus, This is no place for children.

Yeah that might well be the case, I was only a youngster back in the day and I remember going with him on his collections, he retired shortly after.

I sent your post via Facebook to my sister who lives in new Zealand and here is her response
Ali Quinn nee Cook I worked in Canning Street from 1978 full time until 1989 and then part time until 1995. I had some of the best years of my life there. It was a fun place to work and the staff were amazing.
