We ate there a few times. One of the starters was 'avacado salad'
which we deliberatly asked for, knowing that they never actually had it! Also the 'prawn cocktail' was described as 'Prawns in a Rose Marie' sauce! What we did eat was good though, happy days.

A big crowd of us used to drink there on a Saturday night. The waitress was named Muriel who later went to the Hotel Vic and then the Farmers Arms in Wallasey Village
She was a great Bartender and waitress

Probably closed in about 2006. The second picture (with the red car outside) is dated 2007, when the conversion to flats was almost complete. I don't think they wasted much time between closing as a pub and starting conversion work.
Despite looking good on the outside, and having a grand staircase inside (great for wedding photo's), I seem to remember being told that a number of the rooms were un-useable due to major problems with decay etc.

My uncle owned the Victoria Garage next door and I helped out in it when I was in my teens in the late 50s. A great bloke named Alec Redford had the Albion then and we saw a lot of him. He had a lovely wife too, they were both great people. A lady named Mrs Walton used to serve in the Albions' Off License. Great days, must admit to liking the Milk Stout they sold. The Sweet Lavender Laundry was on the other side of the Albion where scenes from the film The Magnate were filmed.
