Looks like the M53 has loads of roadworks.
From J 3 to 4 prenton to eastham the cones start right through to the M56 area. So going past vauxhall is probably 1 lane. The traffic at 8:30am was slow from the moreton spur towards prenton.

From ellesemere port the road works run from there up to eastham too or further I cant remember.

Rush hour allow alot more time for your journey.

THE Highways Agency is warning Wirral drivers to expect delays when work begins on the M53.

From Monday, September 26, there will be four miles of roadworks running from south of junction 4 at Bebington to just beyond junction 9 at Ellesmere Port.

A 50mph speed limit will be in place on all lanes while bridge repairs are carried out on the Eastham viaduct at Junction 5 and safety works including a new barrier are taking place between junctions 8 and 9 at Ellesmere Port.

The work requires occasional lane closures and periods of contraflow.

Alternate overnight carriageway closures will be in place for short periods during the middle and end of the scheme, and the slip roads onto the southbound carriageway at junction 8 and onto the northbound carriageway at junction 9 will also be closed until mid-October.

Signed diversions will be in place at all times.

Work on the bridge is due to end on Tuesday November 9, and work between junctions 8 and 9 is due for completion by Thursday, December 15.

Annoys me that they keep working during rush hour. It's annoying enough when you are diverted off and round in the middle of the night when there's no traffic.

I don't know why they put the 50mph limit in place as nobody takes any notice, they need speed traps in place like they do down south.

But at 10:30am no traffic issues all running sweet.

As of this morning it was between 4 and 5, northbound closed, using the southbound only, 2 lanes each way.

For me personally , i have found the roadworks that have affected Wallasey , and now the slip road at the Vics and the M53up to Vauxhalls , a massive pain in the arse...... it would be nice to actually see people working on these roadworks just so i could see the b*****d that is delaying me ... again! rant over.

I went through yesterday afternoon and they where pulling the surface off the N/B side....

Contraflow between 4 and 5...

Yeh even though its between J4 - 5 there are loads of cones just on the sides after J5 its going to be slow when it all kicks in.

Seen on the sign 8 weeks for the bridge repairs between 5-6

oh they do work on it, you should see the whole bridge literally come to life in the evenings! Lights everywhere, loads of machines going...have watched them every night for over 2 yrs now as its my view when I go in the garden to have a ciggy.

It's at times like this that I'm grateful to start work at stupid oclock. It all flows relatively well at 7am going up and 4pm coming back.
