Leah Fraser is an annoying character but at least on this occassion it's something to do with her. Her father-in-law I think.

Also, she's going to be the Tory candidate for Wallasey Village ward at the next council elections so she wont be disappearing anytime soon. It's a safe Tory seat.

This really pisses me off, the bloke was a hero and a gent. Just been listening to Roger Philips and the interviewees on there were trying to make out these lowlifes were victims instead of perpetrators, they make me sick.
As for trying to turn this thread into a political rant, get stuffed.

No intention of, a) turning this thread into a political rant or b)getting stuffed. My point was the La Fraser will make political capital out of anything, I pity the folk of Wallasey Village!

Kids nick stuff, period. They don't realise what the significance is, the council should replace it with something more substantial and let's move on, it's not as though they are dancing on the great mans grave wearing swastikas and jack-boots is it?

Yes, kids do, and teenagers, and therein lies the problem.

They get taught as kids that it's alright to steal, then they continue into their teens.

Then next we see the adults that we ignored as thieving shits for fifteen or twenty years, because "Kids nick stuff, period" and wonder why they're screwing our houses and cars.

I read the opening post and then the article, initially i though, Leah Fraser... Sounds familiar....

CORRUPTION! through and through, how on gods earth did the prom get named after this man?? yes he was a hero, so was my grandad and many of yours, but they dont have a road named after them. often officers get medals and awards for things which they could not of and usually did not do by themselves, whilst the real heroes who usually ended up dead on the mission are forgotten in time.

I dont agree with vandelism of any kind and yes these people are ..., they did not do it to disrespect the guy they did it because they could. personally i am still fuming that this blatent corruption of power in local government has gone unnoticed. I often see her and next time i do i am going to ask her how her grandad managed to get a road named after him and how my grandad who was bomber command and a prisoner of war can get one named after him.

Ian Edward Fraser, VC, DSC, RD and Bar, JP, to give him his full title was awarded his honours by a grateful country along with Leading seaman James Joseph Magennis VC, so there is no discrimination there with officers and ranks. Councils often show appreciation by naming roads, streets or buildings after what they consider worthy candidates, its probably the cheapest form of recognition they can render.
If you were to ask this man was he any braver than men in bomber command, men in Burma or the men that hit the beaches of Normandy, the answer would have certainly been no and yet there seems to be opposition to this road or prom carrying his name.
If a relative is seeking political gain on the back of this man, there is nothing new there, the house of lords and parliament are full of the likes, none of that should take away what this man done for his country and the gratitude he deserves.
The sign was probably stolen by someone who has the same name, how unfortunate they don't have the same character and never will have.

God help us,
Come yourself,
Don't send Jesus,
This is no place for children.

Every story I read year days seems to be a story about how sOmerhung has happened and the council say one thing but every member of public seems to say and think something else all together. The councillors either have their heads in the cloud or they have a "gift" heading their way.

I would like to see a full audit carried out on who had their palm crossed in relation to the development in new Brighton.

Either way, feel sorry for the relatives of Ian Fraser but this kind of theft is nothing new and sadly won't be changing anytime soon I think

Edit

I would like to add one last thing, when you are in a position of power you will be exposed to oppertunitys that may not usually present themselves. In order to avoid bringing your character in to question you should avoid questionable acts. I.e giving a big contract to a friend or relative, going ahead with projects that the mass public are against, naming roads after lived ones....

Starting to look like it wasn't stolen by kids or smack rats, but was maybe a political protest by some one living in Lancaster, Wellington, or Blenheim road/avenue.

I wouldn't know her if I fell over her, but I do know that this isn't about boring politics or personal axes. It's about the fact that ... can just do things like this and get away with it. Irrespective of who his ?daughter in law is, he was someone who did his country proud. As for the roads mentioned - what on earth has that got to do with anything?

Yes it's sad that not every person who was the same can be honoured this way, but some of us don't need a public plaque (that can be stolen or defaced) to remember what our relatives did. I'm one of those people. I know what my Dad, Uncle and Grandad did (amongst others) and that's enough for me. I just feel sad that all they fought for is being eroded away by the children of parents who don't give a shit. It's not just the children that are to blame, the parents are too!!

They are all the names of ww2 bombers, although as will rightly be pointed out, the roads in question were named well before the aircraft in question were conceived.
