What was the name of the (marked) flats?
Anyone who's not familiar, they where across the road from Lairds, where the petrol station and car sales are.now. The pic must have been taken from around the Mersey Park area.

Quite a few British Leather employees lived in them

I always thought they had a name, like something buildings, that sort of thing.

There were 3 brothers Derek, Lennie and Alan Taylor who lived there who worked at the Tannery.
I think Kimprii knows one who he could ask

Derekdwc is right. Although they may well have had a formal name, I think they were always known as Green Lane Flats.

I can't remember what we called them but a mate of mine - John Pritchard - used to live there. That would be mid/late '50s.

The postal address for them would have been New Chester rd i would imagine, i have heard the name of them, just forgotten what it was, it was easy to call them Green Lane flats, thats understandable, while we are in the area, Green Lane station is not in Green Lane, That bit of road is Old Chester Rd.

Can't find any evidence on OS maps of them having a name - they're just marked as 14-96 New Chester Road.

Thanks Marty, i can only think perhaps it was a nickname given by the local natives though i thought i had seen the name mentioned on here in the past.

Green Lane, indeed, with a heavy brush of irony.

My parents lived in them.

My dad said they didn't have a formal name, just green lane flats. He lived in number 123!
