London Naked Bike Ride: Nude cyclists take to streets of UK capital

Baring all in front of heavy traffic, this was the eighth London World Naked Bike Ride, which set off from Hyde Park.

Approximately 1,000 naked cyclists stripped down to ride the nine miles, passing Buckingham Palace on the way, with many treating the Queen to a rendition of Happy Birthday in the process.

It was intended to be a peaceful, imaginative and fun protest, organised against the culture in which there is a dependence on oil and cars, and to promote the alternative – cycling.

It was also aimed at exposing the vulnerability faced by cyclists on the streets.

Luckily, the sun shone and the starkers protesters didn't have to brave the cold and rain, unlike those who participated in the World Naked Bike Ride in Portsmouth – which went ahead despite protests from city dwellers who tried to prevent the ride through the city.

The dress code for the annual event was 'bare as you dare' and participants were not required to be completely naked.

Organisers suggest wearing 'as little as you can while still feeling comfortable.'

The event took place in more than 50 cities, including Cardiff, Ottowa, Toronto, Chile, Greece, and thousands of people participated across the world.

As many as 3,000 people took part in the UK last year.

Wonder if anyone used a Boris bike this time round?

They should all be done for indecent exposure, after all if you done it in the park or walked down Grange Rd, especially if there were children about, you would be.

God help us,
Come yourself,
Don't send Jesus,
This is no place for children.

Indecent exposure ? The only indecent thing I could see from those photos was the guy on the right in the last one, wearing shorts oshocked and having a good letch.
If it was done in Grange Road it might encourage people to go and spend a few quid there as the place is dying a death.
And, if there were kids around they'd only be taking photos on their phones and sending them to their mates.
Nudity 'eh.
Who'd have thought it in 1811, sorry 2011. raftl

If the bloke is having a good letch then thats exactly what the naturists want him to do, the same as the crowds on the side of the road, i don't honestly think they are interested in cyclist safety, in fact what better way is there to distract drivers than to appear nude in front of them, i wonder how many near misses there was.
I have absolutely no problem with nudity if its done in the right place, nudist beaches, clubs, etc, if its done in public like it was, its not only against the laws of this country it takes away the choice of whether people want to see it and whether parents want their young children exposed to it.
Just because its done by a mass and in the name of protest, some people think its ok and yet if one man bared all in the town or standing at his home window in the name of protest, he would be locked up. Remarks have been made that they couldn't arrest thousands, no they can't, but when thousands riot they don't let them all go because they can only catch a few. While the laws are what they are in this country, some should have been charged.

I've done it on bar tables, it's just that there is a time and a place, for everything, and public spaces are not one of them.
