Doesnt bother me much, an extra penny on the price of a tin of beans isnt going to break the bank; it depends how savvy a shopper you are in the first place, as to whether its going to hurt you wallet significantly.

The price of food is also going to rise in line with the price of oil anyway, as a result of increasing demand from Asia and even Africa, we in the west have had it far too easy, for far too long, and its all pretty fair that our domainance in the markets is now starting to struggle.

There might be something going to happen with this protest had a memo passed round in work to fuel up all works vehicles today as it is likely there will be fuel shortages over the next two weeks.
I work for a big well know haulage company so I dont think they would be so cautious if something wasn't going to happen.

I am of the understanding that any action against fuel prices has to be a concerted and highly organised one.
The best way a boycott could work is for EVERYONE to target the same chain (ie. BP). Not just for the day or week but for weeks maybe months. Once the price has dropped sufficiently then move to the next chain.
Its a case of supply and demand. Remove the demand and the price drops.

From the last couple of posts, do i take it that todays protest wasn't on the scale that the organisers forecast?

Beeb reporting around 150 vehicles during the 20MPH convoys. As I expected they don't seem to have been allowed to blockade the refinery: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-13326275

An earlier version of the above article said they wanted fuel duty reduced by 24p per litre.

The first protest a few years back raised awareness and caused problems to which the then government/oil companies had to react to. Since then there have been subtle changes to certain laws and procedures preventing the same happening again.
Though I thoroughly support their action, it will only have a limited effect on those that matter.
A different plan of action is required, one that has the desired effect

Absolutely spot on, post 2000 measures were established to curtail and stop this type of protest through new police powers and criminal sanctions.

Petrol is far too expensive and has meant that my car spends more time off the road than on. Any ideas on a legal way to show our discontent?
