Thanks for you reply, it was the address for a hay and straw merchant i saw on an old billhead someone showed me, they where also in Liverpool. looks like the your infomation is spot on. I will try and lend the item so i can scan it and put in on Here !.
This blow-up from a photo of the old Royal Castle Hotel in the late 1890s shows part of the premises in Castle Yard behind the pub - the name is incomplete in the pic, but according to Directories the premises belonged to Robert Knowles, hay, straw & provender dealer.
