Man in court over Aigburth armed siege


A MAN charged with a string of firearms and robbery offences appeared in court after a five-hour stand-off in south Liverpool.

Alan Grant, 27, of Park Road East, Birkenhead, appeared in Liverpool magistrates’ court yesterday.

It followed an armed siege in Buckland Street, Aigburth, on Saturday, January 8.

Grant was charged with possession of a handgun and possession of ammunition, two attempted armed robberies, two counts of theft, and driving offences.

He stood in the dock dressed in a grey and black zipped sweater and blue jacket.

He spoke only to confirm his name and address.

Grant was told by magistrates his case will be heard at Liverpool crown court, with a preliminary appearance there on Monday, January 31.
