What happened to the trivolti theater?

Cool! Granada Bowls, worked there for years.

The Tivoli Theatre was later transformed into an amusement arcade but by the 1970s it was boarded up. In 1976 the building was demolished after it had suffered a fire.

I think the Golden Sovereign was across the road? It was above an arcade but I can never remember the name of that one. The Golden Sovereign was built on the site of Paddy's original cafe. He moved across the road.

with your back to the pier looking up Victoria road are the odd numbers on your left hand side - if so the Empress was on the left. Vaguely remember going for a pint in criterion just before going to the club.
Both Criterion and the arcade are odd numbers

Great post Paul. Is it me or do there seem to have been a lot of fires regarding run down Buildings on the Wirral.

Nothing like a mysterious fire to get rid of a pesky listed building standing in the way of rich developers plans.
