My mum and all her family were born and lived in Rankin Street before they were moved out to Leasowe. The Eagle was my grandads local.

Yes let's hope it lives on in this form and maybe in years to come when sense returns it will be a pub again.

Found this little bit of info from booklet published in 1998 by a W.E.A. local history group.

In 1830 two small cottages were built, 10 years later they were knocked into one and became the Eagle Arms pub.
The Eagle Arms has it's own Coat of Arms
It was also known as Blowers when the tugs were bringing the ships up to Bidston Dock. They would blow their hooters to let the landlord know he would soon have customers.
Anther nickname it had was Giles, the landlady being Mrs Giles. She would give the local children a few pence to take her washing down to the docks,to wash it in the docks!
There were the 'coolie' boats of Blue Funnel and Henderson Line which docked at the end of Limekiln lane, having come from Bombay and Calcutta. The coolies would often have festivals and came ashore to drink at Gile's pub. They would catch the train to Birkenhead market to buy clothes and would walk back with their wares upon their heads in Indian File down the lane to their boats..

Hopefully it's correct information.

I agree, at least the building is still there, and there are tell tale signs that it used to be a pub, interestingly, if you look on Google Maps (Street View), it still is a pub (Picture taken September 2009).

I used to drink there in the 80's when Kevin Houlihan had it.
It was known as the 'Tardis' as once in there time was irrelevant.
Had some great 'Lock ins', were you would be joined by the local beat Bobbies who would knock on the door & have a swift pint before getting on their way.
Sunday lunchtimes with live music & free spare ribs on the bar.
They used to have a toilet seat on the wall & nominate people for 'S***house of the Week' and place it over their head. I 'Won it'??? for going to watch Everton at Villa Park in the League Cup semi-final on my girlfriend's 18th Birthday. Happy days.
