Yer, thats all I am going to do MikeT. In all honesty I am not worried one bit, so much so In the future I am going to spend as long as I want next time I am there. I asm also very tempted to chop down the camera one night, or even day time as Im sure no one will phone the police due to the nature of the camera and its purpose in life. Its an act against humanity and a blantant insult to us all being there. Makes my blood boil.

In a Gatso, the picture is recorded on 35mm film and it is housed in the box at the top.

I'd guess that setting fire to Gatsos is more of a statement than anything else. We are the most camera'd up nation in the world.

Cameras will move away from 35mm film as it will negate the need to visit to collect the evidence. I saw a traffic camera today that worked only on 3G (mobile network) and it was possible to control it and get decent enough pics with relatively low bandwidth.

I've been in a number of CCTV control rooms and the picture they get off the wired cameras in shopping centres and the like are of DVD quality. The zoom and camera movement is amazing.

I'm all for cameras if it comes to saving lives; driving 70mph though roadworks is unacceptable when people are working. Using them to generate revenue off customers is stupid; particulary when places like Rock retail aren't exactly pushed for space!

I'm with you Rockster. There's plenty of free parking in B'head if you don't mind a short walk.

Nigel: I'm not totally against cameras. But they moved from being speed (or "safety") cameras to a means of generating revenue a long time ago.

One use I do approve of is red light cameras. Red light jumping is epidemic in Wirral. It's not just the motorists, yesterday on my way to work a woman on a bike sailed through two consecutive sets of red lights at speed then jumped a third and nearly got flattened by an artic coming round the roundabout. (This was at the A bridge roundabout on Dock Rd in Wallasey.)

Almost wish she had been flattened. Cyclists are supposed to obey the rules of the road like the rest of us. Why is it the police are never there to see these things?

I couldn't give a crap if someone wants to drive their car flat-out on the motorway in the small hours, but I don't like people ragging down my road.

Car brakes aren't that good and most importantly human reaction times vary, not to mention the job that the brain has to do to patch up incomplete information from our eyes.

If a vehicle is travelling 50mph, there is a lot of deceleration required to stop in an emergency. In residental areas there are too many hazards; pedestrians, cyclists, driveways, junctions, children, etc etc; so the probability of an accident is far higher in these situations. I do support speed and traffic light cameras in built up places and I guess it's satisfying to see someone driving like a complete arse get flashed.
