Not our history but fascinating, perhaps especially to aficionados of older cars This clip off YouTube is a 104 year old film of a cable car ride in San Fransisco. The clock tower at the end of Market Street at the Embarcadero wharf is apparently still there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NINOxRxze9kThe amount of traffic is amazing. Equally amazing are the antics of "scallies" 104 years ago hanging onto the back of cars and carts. Also, given the way people drive (aim?) and the total lack of pedestrian road sense it is a wonder that the road is not littered with bodies Snod

Thanks, Snod; yes, the clock tower on the ferry building at the Embarcadero is still there.
Carpe diem.

See also the amazing 'Before and After the earthquake' on the same rail track! The two shots are side by side and very well synchronised.
